Protecting children and youth in camps

 

In Greece, Terre des hommes provided child protection services in 9 refugee accommodation structures since April 2019 (Attica: Skaramagkas, Schistos, Lavrio, Northern Greece: Alexandria, Veria, Lagadikia, Nea Kavala and Thessaly: Koutsochero, Moza), in 8 from January 2021 (minus Nea Kavala) and in 6 structures from July 2021 (minus Skaramanga and Lavrio). In addition, it managed two Safe Zones for Unaccompanied Minors, in Skaramagkas until the closure of the structure in May 2021 and in Veria until end of November 2021.

  • Total unaccompanied children, benefiting in the Safe Zones: Veria- 72, Skaramagkas-50.
  • Total: 122 Unaccompanied Minors

Results regarding the Child Protection project for families 2019 (April-December 2019)

  • Number of beneficiaries: 1152, of which 379 were children who were directly supported.
  • Beneficiaries who received psychosocial support: 115
  • Beneficiaries who received legal assistance: 177, of which 46 parents, including parental care and temporary care)
  • Beneficiaries who received focused Financial Assistance for Case Management in the form of goods or services for vulnerable cases .: 121
  • Provision of food to unaccompanied children: 93

2020 (January - December 2020)

  • Number of beneficiaries: 2312, of which 759 were children who were directly supported
  • Beneficiaries who received psychosocial support: 199
  • Beneficiaries who received legal assistance: 1015, of which 395 parents with children for matters of parental care and temporary care)
  • Beneficiaries who received focused Financial Assistance for Case Management in the form of goods or services for vulnerable cases .: 412
  • Provision of food to unaccompanied children: 745

2021 (January-June 2021)

  • Number of beneficiaries: 1727, of which 595 were children who were directly supported.
  • Beneficiaries who received psychosocial support: 152
  • Beneficiaries who received legal assistance: 1585 (of which 149 parents with children for issues of parental care and temporary care)
  • Beneficiaries who received focused Financial Assistance for Case Management in the form of goods or services for vulnerable cases: 334
  • Provision of food to unaccompanied children: 253

2021 (July-December 2021)

  • Number of beneficiaries: 277, of which 121 were children who were directly supported.
  • Beneficiaries who received psychosocial support: 19
  • Beneficiaries who received legal assistance: 228
  • Beneficiaries who received focused Financial Assistance for Case Management in the form of goods or services for vulnerable cases: 330
  • Provision of food to unaccompanied children: 67

  • Number of beneficiaries: 5468, of which 1854 were children who were directly supported.
  • Beneficiaries who received psychosocial support: 485
  • Beneficiaries who received legal assistance: 3005
  • Beneficiaries who received focused Financial Assistance for Case Management in the form of goods or services for vulnerable cases .: 1197
  • Provision of food to unaccompanied children: 1158

The Safe Zones program was coordinated by the IOM while Child Protection (IP) was administered and coordinated (SMS) by the DRC until the end of June 2021 and from July 2021 under the IOM and with the support of the Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration of the European Union.
